Why DC Music Academy?

We are Dr. Solomiya Gorokhivska and Dr. Andrei Pidkivka, founders of DCMA, recognized music performers and educators in the Greater Washington Metropolitan area. Both of us are native of Ukraine who came to the USA for graduate studies. After collaborating and performing together as a professional duo, we decided to establish a music studio where we could share the wealth of our music knowledge, skills and experience brought from our home country and instrument mastery advanced in the USA. We want to make our academy a special place where our students not only gain valuable skills in music but develop a sense of belonging to something that always brings joy and fulfillment. With our own example of being passionate about teaching and performing, we want to motivate and challenge our students of all ages and levels to strive for excellence and best of themselves. At DCMA we want our students to be well rounded and enthusiastic about learning music. Our professional instruction develop a variety of music skills such as instrument and vocal techniques, sight-reading, music theory, improvisation, ensemble practice and performance.

• We prepare students for school and college auditions, regional, state and international competitions and youth orchestras.
• Many of our students hold scholarships to private schools and top music colleges in the US including Oberlin Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, University of Michigan and others. We help them with the entry auditions to the most prestigious summer camps such as: Interlochen Music Camp, Blue Lake and others.
